Why only a couple of years more? It is highly improbable that anything you
do now on a computer will change in future. The keepping up with the os
update rat race usually has little impact on the majority of what one does
in reality on a computer.

In principle unless some hardware problem arises it can be used for as many
years as you choose while performing all the functions you do now. As a
bonus, the builtin one way forced direction the os update has on future
hardware is avoided with the money in your pocket.

So far, I?m very impressed at how fast apps load! I think it is worth it. I
replaced the 500GB 7200 rpm hd with a 750 SSD. They gave me back the old hard
drive. It is in a static proof bag. I put it in a drawer, just in case I ever
needed it. It appears they restored al my data for me. Hoping to get a couple
of years more out of this machine. This is the longest I?ve ever owned any
laptop. I?m quite happy.

I'm also looking at updating a hard drive and battery in a mac book pro 2011,
the battery price alone here in NZ is more than you paid for your ssd and
battery or at least the work done price.

With 16 gig of ram in the machine it should give the owner / user another
couple of years and once finished with gives me an ssd that I can use in an
external drive case.

I think the upgrade was well worth it! It was much cheaper than buying a new
one, and If I can get another year oth of it then great!

I've thought about upgrading to an SSD for my 2010 macbook, but I probably
won't for a couple reasons. First, apparently upgrading the firmware on SSD
drives that are not provided by Apple is next to impossible with mac OS, Apple
does not provide the low level access to the hardware that developers would
need to do this. Second, I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing that Sierra may
be the last operating system that will work with this mac, which means I would
be upgrading next year to a new laptop next year, probably a macbook air, so I
may not have this macbook long enough to make it worth the upgrade. The SSD
drives are awesome though, my girl friend's macbook pro literally boots in
about 5 seconds.

Hi guys:
Well, I finally received my Mac Batttery and 750GB SSD. Took it to the
authorized Apple repair center and I am quite pleased. All I had to do was turn
on voiceover. All data had been restored for me. The SSD is way faster! I?m
quite pleased. They even replaced the bottom case that had all the tabs worn
off. Looks brand new. Not bad for $150 worth of work.
