Hi,

I had a play with chrome vox on my mac here and it works well here. I tested it with gmail and it works ok. I wish there was a way to arrow the the list of message rather than pressing chromevox n then f for next form field to jump to each message checkbox. other than that it works and I have chrome set as my default web browser.

Hi,
For what it is worth, Docs works fine with JAWS 17/18, Window-eyes 9.5 and NVDA (latest version).

When I was playing with docs on the mac, I couldn't get VoiceOver to work at all. Arrowing through the document said "beginning of text" or "end of text." Sometimes it spoke each character twice. It was unusable.

I tried VoiceOver in Chrome with the same results. Finally had to use ChromeVox in Chrome to work with Docs on the mac.

Subject: Using Google docs, etc., on mac with voiceover

Hi Mary,

I can’t say I’mm really a fan boy of Google for most of their products,

However as I’m some what looking for a new tv currently I’m starting to
change my mind.

I’ve never really been a fan of Sony but the new Sony Android tvs I’m
realy changing my mind,

Playing around with the Sony 8500 TV today

Talkback allowed us to work through menus and channels / input sources
as well as the multiple menu levels with speech enabled Sony and Google
have in these tv’s given us the sightless more of an ability to control
the tv without sighted assistance.

As for google docks and chrome vox,

This is surely just a start for Google and with time they will make
the g suite usable with voiceover or even jaws / widnow eyes.

Google are doing some good thigns,

There is no cost. And I can't talk about how good it is or isn't.
Frankly, I resented chrome box from the beginning. Because I thought the
Google should play along with the screen readers and not expect people
to learn a specific Screenwitter just so they can access their stuff. I
mean after all, we have lots of standards. Why did google have to do
something weird and different? HTML is HTML. But not if your Google. So
I have a bias against chrome box. But I can't speak to how good it is or
is not. I think Google should've played with the standards that existed
already in HTML and not expected blind people to learn a whole different
system just because they can..

I use and recommend ChromeVox on mac:

It provides a lot better experience with G Suite.

Hi. Haven't had time to do a topic search for this, so maybe
it's already been addressed, but I'm having no luck using the
help information from google on using docs with voiceover on the
mac. I can't even find the edit field for the body of the
document, just the field for giving it a title. Navigating to
and activating a menu, or using the VO passthrough key and then
the shortcut to activate a specific menu, yields inconsistent
results. I made sure quicknav was off and that screen reader
mode was enabled. What am I missing? Or is it actually just a
        mess anyway?
