Mine also stopped after some time. However, it resumed again when I plugged my iPhone into power. I have wifi sync turned on. Still no indication from iTunes other than the chiming that it’s doing anything, but that may at least explain where the activity is being generated. It chimed several times and now seems to have stopped again.
