Hi Shawn,
Thanks for that. You are correct, it is a mid 2010 laptop.
It runs circles around my mac mini mid 2009 model, so I'm extremely
happy with it.

Subject: VoiceOver losing speech on Macbook
Hey Chris, if you went to the Apple Menu and About This Mac, you could
find out what year it's from. I kinda find that odd that a 2012 machine
would have the Alex issue because it's only 4 years old but who knows. I
know that 2010 models have this which is why I'm avoiding Alex like the
plague until Apple fixes him. And I assume that you're running Sierra.2
so my question about Alex crashing older Macs like mine has been
answered, and sadly it still is.

Hi,
I have a Macbook pro 13 inch with 16gb ram and a TB SSHD. This is the
one that has the DVD drive on the right side.
I have the latest mac os installed on it.
From time to time using Alex the speech will just die. I can still
move around the screen and hear the VO sound effects. If I toggle VO
with command F5 it doesn't come back. I must press and hold power to
get the computer up and running again.
Does anyone have any suggestions, maybe if I were to use another voice
other than Alex?
ChrisI could be in the middle of navigating around and poof, no speech.
It is random.
