These systems have been around for a few years now. Personally, I regularly use my iPhone's lightning port, so the charging card will not fit my needs.
I read an article last week which appears to indicate that Apple is significantly closer to the 15 feet wireless charging system. Given the time it takes to develop and add tech, I am hopeful we will see the distance wireless charging in next year's model. Note: current wireless charging requires the device to be sitting on the charging plate. In other words, it is like the Apple Watch charging system.
