Will it be necessary to do any setup first or can I just restore? Also the issue I spoke of was in regard to the version of iOS 10.

This prevents any problems from the old phone moving over with the new. It however is slower and requires entering all your data by hand so might not be worth it. It’s an old habit going back a long way for me after doing software upgrades so entirely up to you.
