Kerin, as for your questions, I said multiple times, no hard feelings intended, as you said, you may a nimssed this factor. Yes, it has USB. That's kind of the whole point of this discussion. I cannot find software that will let me digitally transfer the audio from the mp3's on my system over to the minidisks.
Secondly, I never said that the recording would be mono. You misread. What I said was, it would be an annalog signal, not digital. If you're using a 3.5 to 3.5 mm patch cable, running form the line out of my mixer to the line in of my minidisk recorder, which is the only means as far as cabling goes, unless you use USB, then it's going to be analog. OK, in the long run it's getting recorded digitally, but at the end of the day, you're upmixing an annalog signal to digital. It has nothing to do with being mono vs. stereo.
As for Audasity, I can look, but it's very doubtful that there'd be a transfer phesility specifically for transferring to minidisks from mp3 files on the mac.
Just to make it 100% clear on no uncertain terms, I cannot find any compatible software on the mac to do this. The only softrware I heard of to do this isn't on the sony website anymore, but what I'm trying to do is, I want to take a USB cord, run one end of the cord into the USB connecter on my Sony MZ-N505 minidisk recorder, then, run the other end to the USB 3.0 port on my mac mini.
Then, I want to be able to open up whatever software, browse to an mp3 file, click on transfer, or whatever, and then have the minidisk recoreder spin up, and receive the mp3 as an audio track now placed on the minidisk located within the recorder itself. Basically it's a USB to USB transfer.
I'm totally aware of doing it the old school way with line in/line out. That's not what I'm trying to do.
You say you do this all the time on yoru system. Are you doing this with line out from the mac to line in of the unit? If so, then yeah, but if you're somehow doing it with USB, and USB only, then I'd love to know how!
If you're doing it the old fassion way, and you, or anyone else on here's familiar specifically with the menu layout of the MZ-N505 from Sony, then write me off list, and tell me please, step by step button by button what to hit to...
