So if you have a MacBook (not sure how far back) you can lock your laptop and
then when you bring your hand with the watch on it near the laptop it unlocks
for you with out the password as long as you’re logged in to your watch / have
authenticated yourself after putting it on. So the work flow is like this.
Put on your watch and unlock with your code or phone as normal. Then go to
your laptop, raise lid, and if it’s waking up and goes to the authentication
screen when your hand is near the laptop it unlocks. Not sure what it does on
filevault yet just did it from putting my laptop to sleep, waiting a few
minutes and reopening.
Caveat… you have to have 2 factor authentication enabled which you should for
security reasons anyway. Or at least it’s good practice.
Let me know if you need more specifics. Set this up under preferences,
security, general.
