The simplest way to find the file you want to restore is to go to the folder 
that contained the file using the Finder. Then go to the Dock and open Time 
Machine.
Having got back to the right date and time, use the Window Chooser to switch to 
the window displaying the folder contents and select the desired file in there. 
Use the Window Chooser to switch back to Time Machine Controls and click 
Restore.
If there is a current copy of the file, you'll be asked whether you want to 
replace it, keep the latest version or keep both.
