Hello Lynn,

You've come up against the problem of the inaccessibility of ScanGear. Here is
Krister Ekstrom's explanation of how he deals with it.
When i'm in the scanning dialog i find the text that says "perform
scan" and when i'm there with the voice cursor, i route the mouse
there vo-cmd-f5 and then i grab the physical mouse and move it slowly
down until you hear "entering new window" at this point, click the
physical mouse button and the scanner starts. Works for me every time.

I, on the other hand, use VueScan which avoids the need to interact directly
with ScanGear. However, VueScan has to be paid for. I think it costs $39 for 1
year, or $79 for lifetime support and all updates.

Cheers,

Anne
