Hi Hank,

I wasn't sure of what you were asking for, because I thought you were
on the vimac-audio list. Any files posted to the Google Groups lists
are available at the web site for the list. You know how at the end of
each post there is a line:
For more options, visit this group at
http://groups.google.com/group/vimac-audio?hl=en

Well, if you go to that web page, there are links to "Discussions",
"Pages", and "Files" and you can find them with item chooser menu.
"Discussions" contains the actual posts. "Pages" contains any pages
of interest created by group members -- in the case of the (present)
macvisionaries list, Saqib created a page of links to a lot of
VoiceOver related podcasts, for example. "Files" are for any files
uploaded by list members. All I did was go to the vimac-audio web
page URL listed at the bottom of each one of their posts and look for
the "Files" link. Keith has been updating the guides at the audio
tutorials site for icanworkthisthing.com based on the vimac-audio list
postings. That's what I thought you were asking about, since those
files aren't part of the vimac-audio list pages. Maybe everybody else
thought that's what you wanted.

Since Justin specifically asked about an uploaded file, and as far as
I know he has never posted to the vimac-audio list and so may not be a
member of the list, I gave him the specific location of the files page
for the group.

Incidentally, one of the files that I posted to the macvisionaries
group files page earlier this year is a file named
macvisionaries.webloc that points to the Mail Archive site for our
macvisionaries list. Webloc files are basically files that point to
web locations (i.e., URLs) so if you put them on your Desktop or in
your Dock and open them your web browser will open to the page they
specify. If you download that file and copy it, you can use it to
create a webloc file for another web site (such as the uploaded vimac-
audio files page). Open the copy of the file with TextEdit instead of
the default app (which will be Finder -- which then launches the file
in Safari). Use Find (Command-F) to look for "string", then VO-Right
arrow to the web URL and replace it with the one you want to use. For
example, if you copied the URL of the vimac-audio downloads page,
delete the entry for the URL for the macvisionaries Mail Archive site
in that file:
http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries@googlegroups.com/
then paste in the URL that you want to substitute. You'll need to
check that you don't delete extra stray characters since the URL sits
between xml keys for "string" -- that is, the argument for the line
begins with "<" "string" ">" and ends with "<" "/" "string" ">" and
the URL is listed between these xml key groups. Change the name of
the file you save it as to a new name that you can recognize like
vimac_downloads.webloc, and make sure there is no ".txt" ending
appended -- you want to use ".webloc".

You can download the macvisionaries.webloc file from:
http://groups.google.com/group/macvisionaries/files?hl=en
Use item chooser menu to look for the webloc files -- discuss.webloc
points to the list archives before February 2009. Use Option-Return
once you are on the file links to download them.

HTH

Cheers,

Esther
