Hi Dan,

There's a 30-day free trial that's fully functional for Tables.  I  
forgot to add that there are also educational discounts available for  
their licenses.  I'm not sure what XLE files are (assuming they're   
are not a variant on the .xls files produced by Excel).  However, you  
can check for yourself whether Tables opens these file formats.

The linked page announcing the discounts mentioned purchases made from  
November 28 through November 30, but since the developer is in  
Germany, I don't know whether this refers to times in his time zone  
(e.g., whether this runs through till midnight in Germany on November  
30th).
