If you type Terminal into Spotlight, you ought to find it. It’s in the Utilities folder inside your Applications folder, and I can’t think why it wouldn’t be there unless you’ve explicitly deleted it.
As for your next router, well, nothing says it can’t be another AirPort if it actually meets your needs. If you are connected with cable and/or are not using PPPoE, then IMO it’s actually still the best option. I can’t really recommend any particular brand, besides Apple, with any relish, since most of them are pretty pockmarked. Having said this, other brands do exist and provide the spectrum of features you need to connect a LAN up to the Internet, and I’ve used some of them with relative success, from easy to advanced (Netgear, SMC, Draytek). Perhaps others on here can advise on their accessibility nowadays. And of course, you can do as I did, which is to buy a Mac Mini and set it up as a router, and it can do other magic things like host disks as well. This arrangement has cons though: you need to be able to operate the GUI of the server machine. Nothing’s going to be terrific, but do the best you can. Start with the question of how you are connected to the Internet. Cable or DSL/FTTC/FTTP? -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
