Apple works in mysterious ways, eh? Sounds a bit credulous to me … :) AirPort Utility was one of the earliest (and most distressing) illustrations of the iOSification of OS X. It sucked then, and it sucks right now, as you are discovering.
Here’s the link you need: http://coreyjmahler.com/2013/10/24/airport-utility-5-6-1-on-os-x-10-9-mavericks/ Get the package, extract the folder, and drop it into your Utilities folder. Now you can run the launcher, bypassing Gatekeeper as you do so. You will be warned not to use the utility to configure the newest devices, but even the latest AC device isn’t unduly hurt by the tool, so feel free. Still, you may want to double-check it with the new AirPort Utility 6, and if available, the iOS AirPort Utility app as well. You’ll find the DHCP client list in the older utility, under Base Station > Logs and Statistics or by pressing the button on the Summary tab. You can now see the wireless clients, DHCP clients, and system log, all neatly shown in tables, and with maximum attainable detail level, independently.
