Hello,
I am using VoiceOver on my 2008 iMac with El Capitan 10.11.4 and Apple mail to
create a new Email for my gmail account which is set up as imap. Note that the
below problem has happened on every El Capitan release and also on every
Yosemite release.

SO I start the Apple mail application and press command+n to create a new
message. I type the message text, and then edit it to correct errors. I then
send the message. If I then look at the contents of the trash mail box I see
numerous copies of the above Email. It seems that someone is saving the Email
after every edit action. This fills up my trash mail box and presumably also
fills up gmail and consumes network traffic. It also presumably uses needless
processing power to do all this and thereby slows down my machine.

Do others see this problem and if so have you found a way to stop this
behaviour?

Best regards….

Paul Hopewell
