VO+Space opens terminal? Since when?
You sure you don't mean command+space?
Also, realize something important here. If you have something like Onyx or
what not, like I do, and've disabled Spotlight, then... well? you're kind a
screwed.
Chris.

Subject: using terminal
Hi,
Just wanted to let people know that they can also use terminal to quit a
particular app.
You do this by typing vo space, then typing terminal. this will open
terminal
You’ll probably have to enter your pass word, then type: osascript -e quit
app app name, then hit enter
this is how I could finally close the offending app on my hubby’s mac.
After that, I started voiceover with command f5. He already had another
voice selected(he used control, command, option v to do this, but it doesn’t
change the default voice in voice over utility.). I then went to vo utility
with vo f8, then down to speech, tab a couple of times and get to the voices
table, then select the new voice with the pop up on the default voice.
Everything seems to be working for him now.
thanks for everyone’s help on this annoying stuff!!
Cait

If you get caught by the very long strings that kills Alex and aren’t
using another synth or can’t switch to it, you can press Command+Space,
type terminal, press enter. Press backspace and listen for the bell.
Type “sudo shutdown -r now” and press enter, type your password, and press
enter. Your Mac restarts.
The perpetrator is sending emails to individual members from a gmail
account off-list as well, so watch out.
Obviously I sincerely hope that the moderators hang the responsible party
from the gallows by the naughty bits. It probably won’t help, but it’s
worth trying.
