I mentioned before that “The Martian” (the movie) was audiodescribed. I’m happy to tell fans that the official game, which is a text-based chat simulation, is also completely accessible (if a little tedious to operate). Knowledge of the plot is not required, although naturally, more enjoyment is gained by reading the novel. If you have an Apple Watch, glances will show the biodata readout, and there is a full app that stands in as a reasonable substitute for the phone app while catching up spontaneously. It is a real-time simulation, with rest stops and everything. The link is: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/the-martian-official-game/id1019838009?mt=8
It looks like it’s using the same engine as the Lifeline series of games (Lifeline, Lifeline 2, and Lifeline: Silent Night). So, once you’re done rescuing (or, alternatively, killing) Mark, you might like to try those. I’ll be playing these until I’ve got as much entertainment out of them as I’m reasonably going to get, but really, I don’t think I’ll be keeping them on my devices. This is just FYI. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
