Hello Erik, The Fopydo stand with book reading aid is the same one you’ve seen, but it has a base with two foam pads positioned above and below where the spine of the book sits. These foam pads keep the pages open and flat. There are two stiff wires, bent at a right angle, which are inserted into the base and the upright section. These wires can be pushed right in or pulled some way out to adjust the height of the shelf and the distance from the base. The foam pads are also very adjustable, so the size of book you describe will fit easily between the pads, and the height can be adjusted accordingly. It certainly is made of a plasticised kind of cardboard, but it’s more robust than you’d think. It’s also light to carry around, which is useful for a student. I read with the Fopydo on my lap, something that can’t be done with the StandScan Pro, unless I put a tray or rigid board on my lap first. I like being able to sit with the book in front of me, turning the pages as I would if reading with my eyes or the optacon, the latter being something I used to do before I lost some feeling in the fingers of my left hand. Getting older isn’t a bundle of laughs.
