Vaughn, I’m with you I find this an interesting topic and to relate it to the list I’m interested in how Apple really changed this game dramatically. It hit me the other day I don’t own a CD player any more. My laptops don’t have the drive, I don’t have one in my audio system, my car doesn’t have one and to really stress the point I don’t think my family owns a CD player. (forget turntable or other media) Everything I have now is centered around Apple or Google, streaming boxes and really more of an on demand model than whole album model like you said. You really make some interesting points. It’s a total shift. I don’t even have the big wooden furniture to hold the media and all the playback equipment. Everything now is thin panels, glass and metal shelving and tiny with the benefit of being wireless. Wow.
I wonder if it’s less money for musicians but more fairly distributed or just less money for the big names. I would have to think with the cost of entry being so low now a lot more musicians as you said could get their name and product out there. No need for a label. Hell you could probably start to make a decent living with a good regional act. I’d be interested in what other musicians think as well between the old and new model and which they prefer. I’m also really interested in how Apple has changed the game by allowing the Artist to publish directly. > On Dec 8, 2015, at 3:02 PM, Vaughn Brown <jazzdress...@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hi Scott, > > I am interested in hearing what other's see as I am a musician, too. > Thank you for your insight.
