Hi Scott, after a period of inactivity, Apple TV 3rd generation speaks an announcement after it has been booted up in a factory default state, much like the Mac does. But then you do need to toggle VoiceOver on to continue, and the announcement explains how to do this. For those interested, I have detailed step-by-step guides on setting up both 3rd and 4th generation Apple TV in my books on each device. Here's the page for the Apple TV 3rd generation book <http://mosen.org/index.php/mosen-consulting-ebook-apple-tv-3rd-generation-with-voiceover/>,
And here's the 4th generation book released just yesterday <http://mosen.org/index.php/mosen-consulting-ebook-apple-tv-4th-generation-with-voiceover/>.
