Hi all, I've discovered that the culpret of my hard drive space debacle is utorrent. It has been spuriously copying files from my storage onto my latpop hard drive as fast as I move other files. My annoyance knows no bounds as of course, there isn't enough room for the files internally and thus the data is corrupted.
On the other hand, it's a relief to know my ssd isn't giving up the ghost... yet. Thank you all for your help and suggestions.
