Apple apps can tell you the time. But not anybody else’s. Apparently, Apple, and only Apple, are uniquely positioned to be able to tell you the time by means of the instrument on your wrist.
I suspect this is just another “No equivalent functionality” requirement for Watch, the idea being that users should only need or have one place to get that functionality. This is, IMO, a fairly silly, competition-diminishing move, and one rendered necessary only because Apple, in their infinite wisdom, don’t allow the user to remove or hide those components it supplies and allow its competitors to take their pride of place as working substitutes. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
