It certainly does for me and it's the same gesture as for ending the call. Perhaps it's just a case of practising.

That's why the pronunciation is so bad sometimes, the voices on the iPhone are very economical. You could try the Australian voice to see if you like it better. Actually, I thought the British voice was called Emily.
