Disconnect the iPhone from the mac

If you have a iCloud set up on your mac, then;

On your phone go to settings, icloud, and turn icloud on and choose all you
wanted connected, i.e. calander, contacts, mail, notes and then exit settings
and they will appear shortly

How can I do this? I tried clicking on import with the phone connected with the
usb.
 I wasn't successful. Thanks in advance.
