Hi,

I’m running ITunes on my Win 8.1 64B computer and when I installed the update
last week to ITunes, it downloaded and installed fine. The problem is that in
the latest ITunes version , when I go to the ITunes help menu and do a “check
for updates” I get the following dialog/error message every time:

“The ITunes update server could not be contacted. Please check your internet
connection or try again later.”

My internet connection is working perfectly fine. I’ve run diagnostics under
ITunes help as well and it comes back with everything in working order. I
called Apple Accessibility and I did with tech support uninstall ITunes (all
associated programs in the correct order) and then re-downloaded & re-installed
ITunes. What is weird is that this time when I started up ITunes it appears
that it has gone back to a previous version and wants me to again download and
install ITunes. I don’t want to do it since once I get the latest version
running, I’m worried that its going to return to saying I cannot connect to
their update server. So, has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas on
the correct fix for it? I’m worried that I’m waiting on Apple to put in a fix
for ITunes for Windows. Yes, I have a Mac laptop, but my comfort is still with
Windows and its where I do my backups, etc. Yes, I have a working copy of
ITunes, but why shouldn’t I be able to install the most up-to-date without
problems??

I posted this question to the other list I’m subscribed to the other day, and
no one had any information that could help.

Thanks for any definitive help.
Eileen
