Dono why it's stopping after each track. That's bizarre, however I can tell you why your arrow keys aren't working.
It's actually command! left and right arrow, not just left and right arrow by themselves. Then, if you wanna rewind or fast forward, that's command+option+left and right arrows. command+option+down arrow is mute, then if you want to unute, just raise your volume with command+up arrow until the desired level.
