Hi, In my opinion, the Messages app is the best one for use in Yosemite. Try going into your Messages Preferences, under the Accounts tab and confirm that all your settings and credentials are inputted properly. You could even remove them then re-add ensuring that you input your correct info and that should clean things up. The Messages app integrates with the Contacts app on your Mac as well as just recognizing phone numbers in order to display information to you. So, make sure that all is good within your Contacts app data as well.

After mavericks it got tricky. I have tried messages, but for some reason my online contacts as well as my display name are not working. It shows a display name for another and removed user. Adium seems to not want to connect at all giving an unspecified error. Question: Is there something I forgot to change somewhere that isn’t obvious, and are there other multi-purpose messengers that may fit better? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
