Hello, iWork is very accessible and would work for the tasks you mention. The preview of MS Office, at least when it comes to Word, is a long way behind iWork.
However, don’t expect Pages to be like Word. It does most of the same things, but in a different way. If you haven’t got it already, get the book “Mastering the Macintosh with VoiceOver” by Tim Sniffen. It’s a free iBook.
