That's really weird, as the ribbon definitely is there when I use it. Stop
interacting with everything in Word, and I do mean, everything. Then go to the
top of the screen, you should hear a toolbar being hit. Vo+right arrow once
from there. Do you not then here something about home tab? If so, that's your
upper ribbon.

Chris.

This is great news! It’s not that pages isn’t a fine app, but work places for
whatever reason generally use Microsoft products and, if this progress is
meaningful, and thus far, it appears to be, it could lead to more Macs in the
work place. My four sighted friends who are Mac users all use Microsoft office
for the Mac, I’m just happy to see the needs of blind users are at last being
considered.
One question for you all, how does one access the ribbon? I am not seeing a
ribbon, and I have used the toggle ribbon command with no results. I see no
ribbon on the screen.
  Thanks.

Guys, holy sweet Jesus this is awesome! I can confirm beyond a doubt that
the original poster who said that Office and Word now works in the document
preview is *not!* a liar! I never thought he was, but I was indeed slightly
sceptical. I'm very! very! happy to say this time, it isn't a hoax! I just
tried it over here after running the software udpater, and let me tell you all
what! Oh! my? god! I was able to navigate both the menu bar, and the ribbon
both perfectly, and also was able to read and edit a word document as well. I
even! managed to add some formatting, and do a vo+T to read font and formatting
style. Even? that! worked flawlessly! Guys? if you haven't already done so?
As much as we all bitched at Microsoft to get this working, they've? done it!
We so! so! need to call their accessibility helpdesk, I don't care if you're a
Microsoft hater or not. I can't say I'm the most fond of them myself, however,
this is exceptional! I know we had to beat 'em over the head, but that's not
the point. The point is, they finally did it, and for that reason alone, we
need to let them know how much we appreciate it, so that they don't lag on
things going forward. This could be a wonderful! wonderful! step moving
forward. I really mean it guys!

Let's all call them, and thank them profusely! for there efforts. I
wouldn't let them off the hook about them not listenning in the past, but don't
rub that in their face. Let's move forward. It sounds to me like maybe?
they're finally getting the hint. This gby far is the best update I ever! have
yet seen them do. The guy I spoke with today at the accessibility desk was
tickled to death to hear such great news, and said he'd pass on the good news
to the devs. I told him, what ever! they do, do? not! touch that document
preview window in Word. They have it working flawlessly now. Don't! break it!
He told me he promised me he would put that plee request in the note to them.

If you all call them, I'd be very very curious what they say to you, if you
don't mind sharing.

Anyway, they are opened at this department 24/7, and out of all the times
that I have called them, never even once! have I gotten a foreigner who
couldn't hobble english.

Suffice it to say, I'm jumping for joy! Pages is great, don't get me
wrong, please please don't, but the fact that now Office is becoming accessible
too? You can't begin! to know the doors this can, and probably will! open.

    Chris.
