Your first question needs to be: laptop or desktop? I started on the Mini too, 
but found eventually that I wanted to be able to bring my Mac around with me. 
Now I have the Air and find it much better. Even though it has half the ram and 
a slower processor, it runs much faster than my old Mini because it has a solid 
state drive. Of course, the newest Minis can have SSDs too, and they are 
cheaper as well. What they aren't is portable, and as I said, I found that 
having my Mac be able to come with me was important.

Your next question is power. Is the Air enough? For email and web browsing, 
it's plenty, but for music production? Does it have enough ports/do you do most 
things by external mixing which doesn't need more than one audio or USB port? 
Do you need the extra ports of the Pro? Would a hub do just as well? I have a
