Right click on the book.
Arrow down to get info.
Hit enter
You should be able to change the bit rate and etc there.
If that does not do it try holding down control after you right click

Hi, The books are already in mp3, I just want to decrease the file size to save 
hard drive space. Will your itunes process do this?
