Chris, on another note, which of those two piano synths do you find to be more realistic? I'm a professional musician, and would love to hear your thoughts.

Currently, I use the built in internal concert grand piano sample from my digital piano which is a Roland RP401R Rosewood system, and I'm telling you one thing! The sample is, just! breath taking! Probably the most gorgeous piano sample I ever have heard! Sometimes, If I need something to be in midi format, I use Pianoteq 4 Stage. I'm very very highly considerring, provided I can get someone to help me transfer the asset to my ILok, a copy of Synthogy's Ivory.

Chris.

Subject: Bring back the old Garage Band

Hello,
As many of us have discovered, accessibility is a real issue with the current version of GB.

Well, I discovered an older version (6.0.5) on my mac mini and decided to give it a try. My goal was to hook up my midi keyboard and play it through GB using an audio unit software instrument. I discovered that this task was doable with voiceOver without any sighted assistance.

So far I have tried out two audio units. The first is “piano1” which is free. The second is the demo version of True Pianos. While the stand alone version of True Pianos is not accessible, I discovered by accident that an audio unit had been installed along with the stand alone version.

So, for those interested in playing your keyboard on the Mac, it is certainly doable. In my case the key was to use a more accessible version of garage band.

HTH
Chris
