Hi Michelle, if you are using NVDA, Window-Eyes, or any other screen reader
apart from JAWS, go ahead and change the settings frequently, experimenting
with different values as you wish. If you are using JAWS, however, be
especially cognizant of the fact that you will probably lose your JAWS
activation by changing any of these settings, and you will have to reactivate
JAWS or even contact Freedom Scientific to resolve the issue. It may be that
JAWS permits changing the amount of RAM, but off the top of my head I can’t
remember. In any case, since your activations are extremely limited, it’s not
feasible to experiment with different processor, RAM, hard disk and other
settings. My suggestion would be to experiment with different values before
activating JAWS, if indeed you are a JAWS user, then stick to those values.

With that out of the way, the settings can only be changed when your virtual
machine is shut down, so go ahead and do that first. Then, in the window for
your VM, hit CMD+E to open the settings dialog. You can also get into the
settings dialog from your virtual machine library by navigating to the
appropriate VM in the table then hitting CMD+E.

In the settings, navigate to the “processors and memory” button. Activate this
button then tab through the controls. You will find both a slider and an edit
box labelled “memory size in megabytes”. You can either type an exact value
here or adjust the slider using UP or DOWN ARROW keys. The edit box will update
to reflect the new value you’ve entered. Then use CMD+W to close the
preferences window.

Hope this helps.
