Hello Jürgen, In TextEdit, set it to Wrap to window (Cmd-Shift-w) and you can select text in the normal way. Pages, however, is a different story and it has been discussed a great deal on this list. A sighted person can select text across page boundaries in Pages as long as VoiceOver is turned off, but as soon as VoiceOver is on, even someone just using the mouse cannot select text across a page boundary.
This is a VoiceOver bug and it’s probably worth as many of us as possible reporting it and maybe then something will be done.
