I have been having the same problem for months. I press return but the download of Chrome does not happen. In fact Safari goes nuts with the "busy ready" messages. I end up having to force quit safari.
I had it on my iMac before. I seem to be experiencing the same issue on the Macbook Air as well. I had downloaded it prior to this from another site on that machine and was presented with all these add ons so not knowing what these were I chose to trash the program. I won't to get it directly from the google site. I have never had this issue up until Yosemite.
