Hi folks.
I can't figure out how to stop mail that I'm arrowing thorugh from
automatically being opened and marked as read.
I would like this behavior to be turned off.
when I asked another friend of mine who has worked with Mail longer than I
have, he said I coudl disable the preview pain, but that it was tricky to do.
He said I would have to find the vertical splitter next to the messages
column, and then route the mouse pointer to that splitter, and then click and
drag starte down with the trackpad.
Why I can't simply interact witht he splitter using VoiceOver from the
keyboard, I don't know.
I've tried to do as he instructed using the track pad, but when I released the
track pad and the mouse popped up, my focus landed in the finder completely and
I was booted out of hte mail window despite having routed the mouse pointer to
the splitter.
ANy ideas on what I did wrong?
If it helps, I am not used to using my Mac's track pad at all, and hardly even
use it.
I rely exclusively on VoiceOver keyboard commands rather than the track pad
in most cases.
If it helps, I mpressed command option f5 to route the mouse to the splitter,
pressed the track pad somewhere near the top of the thing, dragged one finger
strate down to the end of the thing, let up, then got booted back in to the
finder.
So I wonder if I need to do something other htan that?
Do I need to hold down the otpion key as well?
I recall needing ot hold down the otpion key in addition to clicking on the
track pad when accessing the Dropbox menu, and without option things didn't
work properly with trackpad clicking.
So, I wonder if that's the only thing I'm doing wrong?
Or maybe my finger somehow found the finder?
VoiceOVer didn't tel me before letting off that I'd land there, that's just
where the click took me.
So there we go.
Am I missing something here?
And, which vertical splitter?
My firend wasn't too clear.
There are two vertical splitters next to the messages column control in Mail,
to either side of it.
One on the left and one on the right.
Which controls the preview pain, I'm not sure.
Thanks for any suggestions on how to accomplish this dragging task.
I've never really understood what the vertical splitter controls visually do.
Seeing that I'm totally blind I know that's a bit silly to maybe ask, but I'm
curious visually what those controls do.?
Thanks.
