Hi Alex, They don’t need to be iCloud users to receive an invitation. They just need an email address, or perhaps even just a mobile number. It works with Microsoft Exchange calendars, Outlook, Google Calendar etcetera. But really the purpose of adding them as an invitee is not so the event appears in their calendar, but just for your own reference so you have an easy way of accessing their contact details, calling and SMS-ing them etcetera.
