Agreed as I think this program does act differently on a machine running Mavericks and a machine running Yosemite as I have played around with it on both. I think all you need to do is VO space bar to open the messages and so on, and it seems to kick you out of html content in to a new tab with the messages or other stuff like notifications, although it told me that so and so had commented on my status but not what they had said, so have to play around with it a little more to figure out how to get to the important part the response.
