Hi, I am using my Mac with a Braille display, and am quite impressed by its ability to instantly recognize my BrailleConnect without any configuration on my part. I would, however, very much like to know if it is possible to make VoiceOver shut up when I want to read with Braille only. When I read text in TextEdit, VoiceOver will often speak the word under the cursor when I pan the display, and I'm finding this rather annoying. Do I need to mute speech, or is there a way for the active cursor not to follow the display as is the case with JAWS? If I do need to mute speech, does there exist a shortcut key that I can use to quickly toggle speech on and off, so that I don't find myself stranded without speech and no Braille display which I can use to get to the VoiceOver utility? Thanks in advance for any input.
