I had those same issues with my 4S, which I unfortunately didn't realize I was going to before I updated it, due to the fact that it's an older phone, and actually had no idea you could downgrade again, so you did the right thing doing that, sense you were going to have a rough time of it unless you plan on upgrading your phone any time soon.
