The infection vector turned out to be pirated software, according to The Safe 
Mac.  That means standard procedure for dealing with it applies: just don't 
install dodgy stuff, and always make sure you know what you're entering a 
password for.  That would, incidentally, make it a trojan, and not a worm.

Still doesn't explain 70k Macs though.  Hmm.
