There really isn't any need to worry about the process before the new version comes out, and there's no need to be terrified. You don't even have to upgrade right away if you don't want to and there will be ample instructions and discussion about this when Yosemite is released. While the agreement may not have been broken, it's totally understandable that people running the Beta would be concerned about this. But again, worrying about and being terrified about a process before you even have to do it is a burdensome, painful and needless experience. If you wait a while after it comes out, plenty of people will be sharing their experiences and advice and you can pretty much wait as long as you want to upgrade. We still have plenty of people back on older releases and while the wisdom of that can be debated from both sides once support for a release is withdrawn, you aren't going to be forced to upgrade your computer. Many, many people sit back and let the dust settle for quite a wile before they upgrade. Some people even upgrade and having kept a backup on an external drive, decide to go back. I did that with Mavericks but have now gone back up to it. We all have plenty of things to deal with in our lives here and now without becoming worried or terrified about what may come or what we may need to do tomorrow, but we all do that and I do totally sympathize.
-- Cheryl I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash! Then God gave me a new heart and life: His joy for my despairing tears! And now, every day: "This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
