Hi,

In my opinion, it is always best to install a clean version of an  
upgrade. Meaning, reformating the drive before the install. That way  
you don't get strange stuff happening. Well, you might not, but it's  
been seen before if you installed it as an upgrade.

If you just upgraded and didn't do a clean install, that might be why.  
Keep in mind you will lose everything on your iMac, though, such as  
settings, documents, pictures and music.
