Thats entirely the purpose of smart mail boxes. Allows you to organize depending on type (such as email address, subject or any of a number of other things). Because of the number of mailing lists I am on, I simply have a smart mailbox for each one. I also have an unread messages smart mailbox that excludes messages to the others, this way, I can look for uncategorized mail from friends. So far, this has made my life in email a lot easier to deal with. You do have to be careful about what criteria that you use. The wrong ones can lead to a lot of confusion.
