On an iBook, the Mute is either F3 or FN-F3 depending on your settings. Of 
course, the trackpad is the kind with a button, so no trackpad commander. In 
any case, Leopard didn't have the trackpad commander, so your muting problem 
has to be either the volume at zero or the Mute turned on.
