This is one reason why I think a Fusion Virtual Machine strategy is so much easier than Boot Camp. Just copy the Virtual Machine file to an external drive and job done.

For what you want to do I know that some drive backup programs like Paragon work with boot camp but I am not sure how accessible they are.

Snapshot is a good accessible option but you
may need to check that it works with Boot Camp.
