TK: Yes. In Settings/iCloud/Storage & Backup, turn on iCloud Backup. All the
settings, account info, pictures and other data pointers are backed up to
iCloud when the iPhone is connected to WiFi, plugged in and the screen is
locked. Apps are not specifically backed up although references to them are
and they will be brought back to the iPhone upon restoration.

TK: This option is for syncing data between iTunes and your iDevice.

> 3. Where is this option?

TK: In iTunes in the Summary pane of your iPhone.

TK: Kind of already answered in #2, but, again, this sync happens over WiFi
between iTunes and the iDevice.

> 5. does the computer have to be on while the phone is being sinked wirelessly?

TK: Yes. In order for this to happen, iTunes would have to be open, and
consequently, your computer would need to be on.

TK: An important note though, is that iTunes WiFi Sync, is completely
different than using iCloud Backup, they are two different entities. You do
not need iTunes at all to be able to use the iCloud Backup service whereas,
iTunes WiFi Sync does require it. The iCloud Backup service can also be turned
on from within the Summary pane of your iPhone in iTunes or by doing what I
mentioned in my response to #1.

HTH.
