Hi Reggie, What probably happened to cause your Mail to not actually quit has to do with iMap functions being still in progress when you asked Mail to Quit. That is, if you, let's say, deleted a message then real soon after, quit Mail. The deleting of the message happens quickly locally but because of Gmails pseudo application of the iMap protocol, the moving/re-labelling of the message to the Archive or Trash takes about 5 or more seconds depending on your network speed. So, consequently, quitting while Mail and Google are talking back and forth occasionally causes Mail to hang in an odd sort of way. The best thing to do is exactly what Alex mentioned, force Mail to quit and when you do go back into Mail, the last message you deleted or attempted to move will be in its original location and all is good.
