If do not distrub is on first double tap the status bar at the top of the screen. Next swipe up with three fingers to access the control center. Next swipe to do not distrub and turn it off. If it is notification center first go to settings Next go to notification center. Next go to messages. Next check the notification style and make sure if banners is selected. Next check to see if show in lock screen is on as well.
