Do you use an external keyboard or anything like that? Is it possible that an app is running in the background and causing problems? Did you make sur sure that your app switcher is cleared before you restarted your iPhone? I have not had any problems with my messages app. I have had problems with contacts though. I could not access a second address. Voice over would just completely skip over it. I got sighted assistance. That is the only reason why I know this.
